MaxMD facilitates our Direct solutions through several distinctive configurations that will meet the needs of any healthcare provider or business associate, from individual clinicians to extensive hospital networks
Configuration I: Encryption as a Service (EaaS®) – EHR as an Endpoint
This configuration allows client applications to leverage the message capabilities of a Hospital’s inpatient EHR as a Direct Endpoint. All message traffic is routed through a secure connection to the MaxMD Security and Trust Agent (STA). The MaxMD STA supports XD* and all standard edge protocols, and provides all HISP functions. These functions include certificate creation, certificate issuance, certificate discovery, Direct encryption and decryption, XDR/SMTP translation, and interoperability with other HISPs – all of which are transparent to the end-user.
Configuration II: Encryption as a Service (EaaS®) – HIT or Mail Server Endpoint
In this configuration, client applications utilize the mail capabilities of an existing HIT application or dedicated mail server. All mail traffic is routed through a secure connection to the MaxMD Security and Trust Agent (STA). The MaxMD STA provides all HISP functions, including certificate creation, certificate issuance, certificate discovery, Direct encryption and decryption, XDR/SMTP translation, and interoperability with other HISPs – all of which are transparent to the end-user.
Configuration III: Hosted Direct mdEmail® for Ambulatory EHRs
For ambulatory EHR vendors without a native mail infrastructure, this configuration calls MaxMD’s Hosted Direct mdEmail® through SOAP/API. To provide seamless retrieval for their users, clients can frame the MaxMD webmail and post customer credentials to their site. End-users can also access Direct mdEmail® on the web, via mobile devices or modern email clients. The MaxMD Security and Trust Agent (STA) provides all HISP functions, including certificate creation, certificate issuance, certificate discovery, Direct encryption and decryption, XDR/SMTP translation, and interoperability with other HISPs.
Configuration IV: Hosted Direct mdEmail® Version 3.0 as a Standalone Solution
Clinics, providers, government agencies, insurance companies, and other healthcare organizations without an EHR, HIT application or dedicated mail server will benefit from the ability to access Hosted Direct mdEmail® on the web. End-users can also access Direct mdEmail® through mobile devices or modern email clients such as Outlook or Thunderbird. The MaxMD Security and Trust Agent (STA) provides all HISP functions, including certificate creation, certificate issuance, certificate discovery, Direct encryption and decryption, XDR/SMTP translation, and interoperability with other HISPs.
